From our newest collection - a piece by artist Ram Kumar, representing Buddha in sitting posture carved entirely from Blue Jade gemstone.

Buddha is shown sitting with a very rare combination of gestures, his left hand is in dhyana mudra holding a bowl. The bowl often represents healing and the Buddha’s way of curing pain and suffering. His right hand touches the earth in Bhumiparsha mudra, an iconic hand gesture that represents the first time Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. There may be many ways to interpret this piece, however we believe the artist is saying that meditating and contemplation go hand in hand with healing. Mind is the powerful machine we have, and all self-healing starts begins with it.

About Artist

Ram Kumar is the artist behind some of our most incredible masterpieces here at Mystik River. Ram Kumar’s sculptures are inspired by Indian and Tibetan Gods and Goddesses. Following on from his father Mr. Hanuman and grandfather, both accomplished artists in their time, Ram has continued the family tradition.

Working predominantly with semi-precious stones and high grade crystals , his work focuses on Tibetan Buddha figures and Indian gods as Ganesh, Shiva, Buddha, Laxmi and Tibetan Tara. His sculptures radiate grace and elegance as he mixes his art with some very high grade semi-precious gemstones such as Labradorite, Tiger’s eye, Rose quartz and Clear Quartz Crystal. His ability to refine the natural beauty of crystals and gems in his sculptures is unlike anything you will experience.

PS: With all hand made stone and wood sculptures, there might be some natural erosion with cracks and spots, but that adds to the one of kind pieces that we sell here at Mystik River.
