Khajuraho lady is an exemplary work of traditional Indian sculpting executed by award wining artist R. Mani. Inspired by female figures of world famous Khajuraho Temple, it’s a celebration of female body and divine feminine energy. The beautiful female is standing almost nude, with nothing but jewels to cover her body as she applies her make-up. Her voluptuous, feminine forms are skillfully carved with details of traditional jewels hanging around her neck. Her body figure is idealized, as traditionally seen across ancient Indian sculptures.

Female figures, play a pivotal role in ancient Indian sculpture.  Such figures are often found decorating gates, panels and murals of ancient Indian temples such as the Khajuraho temple. In India, female sculptures pay tribute to the physical and divine beauty of women, their feminine energy and sensuality. Such images of women are symbolic of fertility and abundance of life. For this reason the female body was celebrated across ancient Indian art and architecture.
