A rare statue of a standing Buddha from teakwood by sculptor Tay Gio made in Yangon, Myanmar.
The sculpture is depiction of a standing Buddha in greeting gesture - anjali mudra or namaskar mudra. Like all mudras, namaskar is deeply rooted in the science of Yoga. Meditating in this mudra, unifies our feminine and masculine energies, restoring balance. Namaskar is also known as a common greeting in Indian and various Southeast Asian cultures and is derived from the Sanskrit language as a gesture of obeisance, recognising the source of creation in all life.
By including this piece in your own home, it can serve as a daily reminder of the source of creation within you.
PS: With all hand made stone and wood sculptures, there might be some natural erosion with cracks and spots, but that adds to the one of kind pieces that we sell here at Mystik River.
