The statue depicts a monk standing on top of lotus flower, with intricate of his monastic robe. Monk sculptures are made as symbol of peace and compassion. Monk statues often commemorate the monastic community and initiation into undertaking Buddha's way  - those who took the path of renunciation of material pleasures and desires, in order to follow Buddha teachings and practise mindfulness. 

The lotus image is also symbolic in Buddhism, that denotes purity and spiritual growth. 

Note: With all hand made stone and wood sculptures, there might be some natural erosion with cracks and spots, but that adds to the one of kind pieces that we sell here at Mystik River.
