Join us on Sunday the 5th of May for a meditative workshop as you learn the process behind Japanese Calligraphy. A fantastic opportunity to learn this traditional meditative practice and create beautiful artwork to take home.
Japanese brush painting is a simple monochrome ink art that evolved in Japan as a zen discipline. It is a powerful way to be in the moment and aware of your surroundings, to express the connection between nature and your inner self.
You will be guided through the techniques Japanese calligraphy, grind your own ink, and learn how to use different ink tones and brush strokes to create simple yet expressive artworks.
The workshop will be guided by Junko Azukawa - an established traditional Japanese calligraphy artist and teacher. She exhibits her art around Melbourne and has her work displayed at the National Gallery of Victoria. She has taught children and adults the beauty of Japanese Calligraphy since 2008.
This is an incredible opportunity to learn from an expert in her field!
