An eye-catching piece by artist Ram Kumar carved entirely out of Blue Apatite gemstone. The natural textures of the stone create a visual effect reminiscent of deep water. Shakyamuni Buddha is portrayed sitting in lotus position, his left hand in the meditation gesture, Dhyna mudra, holding a bowl.

In Buddhist art the bowl alludes to Buddha’s teaching on non-attachment and symbolises renunciation of worldly pleasures on the path to Nirvana. His right hand is positioned in the Bhumisparsha mudra, also known as earth touching or "earth witness" mudra. This gesture represents the moment of the Buddha's awakening as he claims the earth as the witness of his enlightenment, whilst sitting under the Bodhi Tree. Blue apatite is a stone that helps one access and speak the truth, making this piece a stunning reminder of Buddha’s enlightened teachings.

ABOUT BLUE APATITE

Apatite has an amazing ability to connect us with truth and strengthen our commitment to it. Apatite allows us to connect with our own truth, as well as deeper spiritual truths, and create our lives in alignment with them. As it resonates with the throat chakra, this stone will help you achieve a soothing, calm means of communication. You will feel an ease when trying to express yourself. Amazingly, Apatite has become known for helping the physical body gain strength. It can help boost metabolism and regenerate cells. Blue apatite also has inspirational properties, is the interface point between consciousness and matter, and it helps one connect to high levels of spiritual guidance.

ABOUT THE ARTIST - Ram Kumar

Ram Kumar is the artist behind some of our most incredible masterpieces here at Mystik River. Ram Kumar’s sculptures are inspired by Indian and Tibetan Gods and Goddesses. Following on from his father Mr. Hanuman and grandfather, both accomplished artists in their time, Ram has continued the family tradition.

Working predominantly with semi-precious stones and high grade crystals, his work focuses on Tibetan Buddha figures and Indian gods such as Ganesh, Shiva, Buddha, Laxmi and Tibetan Tara. His sculptures radiate grace and elegance as he mixes his art with some very high grade semi-precious gemstones such as Labradorite, Tiger’s Eye, Rose Quartz and Clear Quartz Crystal. His ability to refine the natural beauty of crystals and gems in his sculptures is unlike anything you will experience.

Note: With all hand made stone and wood sculptures, there might be some natural erosion with cracks and spots, but that adds to the one of a kind pieces that we sell here at Mystik River.
