The Buddha Head is a popular representation of the Buddha and his characteristics. Statues of Buddha Heads are created to represent the vast wealth of knowledge he possessed, being the awakened one. The elongated earlobes represent the Buddha’s ability to hear or perceive reality as it is, and serve as a reminder of the renunciation of the wealth he was once weighed down by.
The artist's skill and technique allows for depiction of the Buddha in perfect form and absolute symmetry. A symmetry that defines a balance between Yin and Yang (feminine and masculine) energies. The artist sees the Buddha as a universal symbol of love, harmony and inner peace.
ABOUT LABRADORITE
Labradorite is a stone of transformation and mystical insight, celebrated for its iridescent flashes of color that mirror the magic and mystery of the unseen. It is believed to awaken intuitive abilities, enhance psychic perception, and strengthen the connection to higher realms of consciousness. Often called the “stone of magic,” Labradorite protects the aura from unwanted energies while encouraging exploration of one’s inner landscape. Its shifting play of light is said to remind us that reality is layered and full of hidden possibilities. When carved into a Buddha head, Labradorite becomes a captivating emblem of spiritual awakening, inner guidance, and the ever-unfolding journey toward self-discovery.
ABOUT THE ARTIST - Ram Kumar
Born on August 14, 1964, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Kumar started his training in 1975 under his mentor and father, Shree Chotey Lal Kumawat, at the tender age of ten. After a decade of rigorous training, Ram Kumar established his own workshop in 1986. Over the past 40 years, he has built a legacy of exquisite craftsmanship, working primarily with high-grade semi-precious gemstones and crystals.
Kumar's craft predominantly features intricately carved sculptures of Indian deities such as Ganesha, Buddhist figures, such as Buddha statues, and the goddess Tara, and other traditional motifs. His creations, which include spiritual and religious icons, as well as various decorative items, are crafted using diamond tools, ensuring each piece is unique. Inspired by Indian culture and heritage, he often enhances his carvings with gold leaf painting or inlays of colourful gemstones. The materials he uses range from ruby, emerald, and sapphire to rose quartz, lapis lazuli, and tiger eye, each chosen for their natural beauty and spiritual significance.
