A rare, handmade piece from Mandalay, Mynamar carved from teakwood by artist Tin Myo Oo. Buddha's  is portreyed sitting in meditation in his the famous lotus asana, with symbolic hand gesture composition or mudra

Buddha's left hand is in Dhyana mudra, holding a medicine bowl. This comsposition often represents medicine or healing Buddha. The bowls, can also alludes to Buddha’s teaching on non-attachment and symbolises renunciation of worldly pleasures on path to Nirvana.

His right hand is in Abhaya mudra - gesture fearlessness and protection. Gautam Buddha used this mudra, when his cousin in a moment of jealousy, wished to destroy him, unleashing an elephant on the Buddha. The Buddha faced the elephant with his hands in Abhaya mudra, showing absolute fearlessness. Seeing the Buddha, the elephant calmed down and surrendered to his divine presence.

PS: With all hand made stone and wood sculptures, there might be some natural erosion with cracks and spots, but that adds to the one of kind pieces that we sell here at Mystik River.
