Labradorite Sitting Buddha
From our newest collection - a work of art by artist Ram Kumar, as he has decided to go unorthodox with this representation of the Buddha.
Buddha is shown sitting with a very rare combination of gestures, his left hand is in dhyana mudra holding a bowl. The bowl represents healing and the Buddha's way of curing pain and suffering. His right hand touches the earth in Bhumiparsha mudra, an iconic hand gesture that represents the first time Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bhodi tree. There may be many ways to interpret this piece, however we believe the artist is saying that meditating and contemplating go hand in hand with healing. The mind is the most powerful machine we have, and all the self-healing starts with it.
Made entirely from precious Labradorite gem, it is a result of fine skill and precision. The extreme detail, care and love that Ram Kumar puts for each one of his sculptures is why we love his work and why he is revered all around the world.
Artist Story: Born in Jaipur Rajasthan he has followed in his father's footsteps in being a sculptor, and a very accomplished one at that. Being under his father's wing (who is an accomplished artist himself) he has made a name for himself in India and all around the world with people like us loving his art. His artwork radiates grace and elegance as he mixes his art with some very high grade semi-precious gemstones such as Labradorite, tiger eye, Rose Quartz and Quartz Crystal.
