GEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Rainbow Moonstone is a variety of feldspar mineral, closely related to labradorite, and is known for its characteristic adularescence — the glowing shimmer that appears across its surface. Although commonly referred to as Moonstone, Rainbow Moonstone is technically a white labradorite and displays flashes of blue, rainbow, or pearly light caused by the internal structure of the stone. It has a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5, making it relatively durable while still requiring mindful handling to maintain its polished or raw surfaces. Major sources of Rainbow Moonstone include India, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka. Raw specimens often reveal natural textures and crystalline formations, making each piece beautifully unique.
