Septarian is a distinctive natural stone recognised for its striking network of mineral-filled cracks and earthy colour variations. Often displaying combinations of yellow, golden brown, cream, grey, and darker tones, each formation develops its own intricate pattern over geological time.

Septarian is commonly composed of calcite, aragonite, and other minerals, with the characteristic cracks formed through natural processes and later filled by minerals. Because of this complex formation, no two pieces share exactly the same markings or colour distribution.

Traditionally associated with grounding, stability, and emotional balance, Septarian is often regarded as a stone that encourages calmness and connection to the natural world. Combined with the meditative form of the Buddha, it creates a beautiful reminder to slow down, remain centred, and cultivate inner peace.

ABOUT THE ARTIST – RAM KUMAR

Born on August 14, 1964, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Ram Kumar began his artistic training in 1975 under the guidance of his mentor and father, Shree Chotey Lal Kumawat, at just ten years of age. Following a decade of rigorous traditional training, he established his own workshop in 1986.

Over the past four decades, Ram Kumar has developed a distinctive body of work centred on finely carved sculptures created from high-grade semi-precious gemstones and natural crystals. His repertoire includes intricately carved representations of Indian deities such as Ganesha, Buddhist figures including Buddha, the goddess Tara, and a range of traditional decorative forms.

Working with precision diamond tools, Kumar transforms natural gemstones into highly detailed sculptures, allowing the natural character, colour, and structure of each stone to remain an integral part of the finished work. Inspired by Indian culture and heritage, selected pieces are further enhanced through gold leaf painting or colourful gemstone inlay.

His materials include ruby, emerald, sapphire, rose quartz, lapis lazuli, tiger eye, and other natural stones, each chosen for its individual beauty and symbolic significance.
