Tanzanite is a rare blue to violet variety of zoisite found primarily in Tanzania. It is known for its pleochroic nature, displaying flashes of blue and violet depending on the light and angle. Tanzanite has a Mohs hardness of 6 to 7.

Aquamarine is a blue to blue-green variety of beryl with the chemical composition Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈. It has a Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8 and is valued for its luminous clarity and tranquil colouration. Major sources include Brazil, Pakistan, Madagascar, and Nigeria.
